The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn, 2011

The Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn, 2011
Director: Bill Condon
Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner

Stage: Local Colloseum, theatre with a lot of teens at that point. Late Sunday night

The saga in short: The Quileute's close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whose unborn child poses a threat to the Wolf Pack and the towns people of Forks.

Preps: As I adore the books, I am one of fans and I need to see it. I love love stories that aren't meant to happen but happen anyway. It's written so well that I need to see the piece.

Reality: wow. I am thrilled to see some genuine romantic shots for a couple that wasn't meant to be but still got to the romantic wedding Edward dreamt of. I love the movie interpretation of some dialogues that I have depicted in my imagination. It is obvious that they followed the scenario (the book) to the smallest details and I am sure that it could have been interpreted differently. Nevertheless, I am grateful it happens in such a mushy way (the way your romantic spirit melts as you watch it). But beware, no place for irony here. I am talking about the mere interpretation of what some authors call everlasting love, love that happens once in life and cannot be broken by eternity.
So, if you consider and accept this, you will love the first half of the movie. The beautiful wedding, a cliche and everything a dream wedding means to a lot of girls. With a perfect honey moon that dawns in a forthcoming birth. Now the dilemma, who is worth more, the newborn that you are not sure whether it's a normal baby or a monster, or the mother. In other words, can a couple decide together what to do (either to lose the child or bear it to its birth), or is it completely up to the mother. And is it egoistic for a mother to insist on having the new life, even though she's clear she's probably not going to survive this? The dilemmas just continue and expand. Can a family influence the decision. Is the newborn something that can separate the poles in one family.. and more important, can a best friend and someone you love, really influence on one's decision? The second half of the movie is the true antipod to the first half, as it brings action, depression, death and birth, decisions that are exceeding one's competencies.. and moreover, it brings also hope. And proves the world's eternal cliche, that still holds in Hollywood movies - hope is all we have and maybe, just maybe everything is going to be allright. As I have read the script, I know what happens, so no drama for me. And a true Hollywood ending. Maybe the author should consider bringing some poison into the development of the story. But.. on the other hand.. this is a world of vampires and werewolves - even miracles are allowed here. A good solid rate from me. Watch it, especially if you liked the previous parts. It's the most romantic and inspiring part of them all.

My personal rate: 8,5 ( I adored it. Could be better in some aspects, but a true version of the book. And a beautiful love story)

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, 2010

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, 2010
Director: David Slade
Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner

Stage: Local theatre, ten in the morning (the crowd is away at that time :)

Eclipse in short: As a string of mysterious killings grips Seattle, Bella, whose high school graduation is fast approaching, is forced to choose between her love for vampire Edward and her friendship with werewolf Jacob

Preps: I needed to see the movie version of the book I admired while reading - one of the greatest ones for young people. Also from marketing point of view it made the cast famous with the velocity of the torpedo, and well recognized all around the world (and cherished, also). I have a great friend that is a fan of the genre, therefore a good selection for a saturday morning for her and also me.

Reality: I absolutely admire special effects of the movie and the honest following of the script (or the book for that matter). If you expect to see a good vampire movie, forget about it. Nothing dark, nothing bloody, nothing that could live up to expectations of someone waiting for a good vampire blood on the stage.

However, it's a great love story or let's be honest, a great way of putting a love triangle topic in front of the movie. Combine it with beautiful scenery, a lot of romantic things a young couple says to each other and some action in shape of the battle between bad vampires and not so bad vampires (funny, they are all supposed to be bad, despite this fact this saga makes you believe there can be even good ones). Well, if you took all of these facts into consideration, then you have a box office hit. The actors are surprisingly shaped (the make-up, the clothing, the surroundings - scenery). The cast is the same as in the first two parts, however this time the director decided to put also the "beauty" of a werewolf upfront to make Edward more vulnerable.

The idea of a love that lasts a lifetime (or eternity in this case) is romantic and for this reason I truly believe it to be the fundament of the teen obsession with this saga. Bringing out the values that were once cherished (being a virgin while getting married, the point of the marriage), well, it's worth an applause, even though the teens for sure won't take this too serious. But it gives this movie a special edge and an added value.

One of my personal favourites:
Isabella Swan, I promise to love you every moment of forever. (Edward when proposing to Bella)

My personal rating: 6,5 (in this genre (vampire movie), it's a bad one. But if you want a romantic comedy with some action and some belief in forces that cannot exist, go and see it. It will be worth your time. Hence, the bigger rating.)

Remember me, 2010

Remember me, 2010
Director:Allen Coulter
Cast: Robert Pattinson, Caitlyn Rund, Pierce Brosnan

Remember me in short: A romantic drama centered on two new lovers: Tyler, whose parents have split in the wake of his brother's suicide, and Ally, who lives each day to the fullest since witnessing her mother's murder.

Stage: Local theatre

Preps: Wanted to see this for a while, has been in our theatres. However, never got to it. Also, had it at home. Some of my friends persuaded me to see this on a festive day. So I went. All I knew from this was that it was a drama and the gorgeous Twilight angel is part of cast - Robert Pattinson. One good reason to go to the movies - to see him twice the real size :)

Reality: A bit slow and dull in the beginning. Nothing really astounding happening after the first scene and until the half. However, in the half and until its end it reflexes some deep issues one has to face when a member of a family (brother, mother) is lost and depression, anxiety, sadness attacks - especially a way the family evolves after the death, is stressed.

I like the way the relationship between the two young people is pictured, also the way the relationship between Tyler/his father and Ally/her father is created in totally different way and also the way both cope with their parents. There are a lot of different family issues, that are pictured in the movie, however, only some of them get their turn. For the others I am sorry the director didn't use them in the first round of the movie (at the beginning) or evolve them by the end.

The ending is absolutely brilliant and makes the whole worth watching. However, I would not connect the end with the 9/11. It makes me think it only was because of the US viewers. This tragedy could have been shown in another way. On the other hand, it is one of the most surprising endings of a movie lately and a brilliant connection to 9/11. The dramatic ending can bring tears to your eyes. Also, some brilliant dramatic scenes when trying to solve relationship problems. I loved the vision of the main players - although I am scared that Pattinson will for now only have the roles of a student /cute high school guy; the role he was introduced by with the Twilight Saga.

Memorable quote from Tyler:
Gandhi said that whatever you do in life will be insignificant. But it's very important that you do it. I tend to agree with the first part.

Something he pulls out of this in the movie and I absolutely adore this:
Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it. Because nobody else will. Like when someone comes into your life and half of you says you're nowhere near ready, but the other half says: make her yours forever.

My personal rate: 7,0 (you will like it, however wait until the first half is over. The ending made me fall inlove with the movie completely.)
