The perfect storm in short: In October 1991, a confluence of weather conditions combined to form a killer storm in the North Atlantic. Caught in the storm was the sword-fishing boat Andrea Gail. Magnificent foreshadowing and anticipation fill this true-life drama while minute details of the fishing boats, their gear and the weather are juxtaposed with the sea adventure.


Preps: A must see if it's on TV, I have seen in in the movies and loved it. It's just worth seeing what are the values and needs you are willing to try competing with death, for.


Reality: One of my favourite's Clooney parts. I just love him here, because I imagine that in real life he must be as stubborn and rough as his character is in the piece. The real life for fishing village, fishing for life and hardly make a living (or not at all) if you aren't lucky in the season... it will make your heart cry.
The real fight begins if the weather isn't nice and this is the unpredictable part in this story which makes a difference between life and death. If we are truly prudent and posh towards nature, this piece will make you respect it again. It clearly shows the line where you need to surrender and where you need to bow in front of the nature, as we are towards the big organism like ants and it will tread all over us if we disrespect it.

The hunt we are seeing here as the main story (fishing) happens up to this level only because it's a difference whether some families will make it or not. Live or not. They need money to do it so they risk the lives of fishermen. In this case it doesn't happen. In some cases it does. A strange lottery to be playing. And definitely makes me not want to be in similar situation ever.

You will respect the scenes that were pulled obviously off in the studio, because they are naturally embedded and you think it's the real nature. And you will cry for the sake of lost love.





My personal rate: 6,0 (the best perception of the storms, combined with a breathtaking race for life)

Date Night in short: Phil and Claire Foster are a couple who have been married for several years. Their days consists of them taking care of their children and going to work and coming home and going to bed. But they find time to have a date night wherein they go out and spend some time together. When another couple they know announce that they're separating because they're in a rut, Phil feels that he and Claire could be too. So when date night comes Phil decides to do something different. So they go into the city and try to get into a new popular restaurant. But when it's full and still wanting to do this, Phil decides to take the reservation of a couple who doesn't show up. While they're having dinner two men approach them and instructs them to stand up and go with them. They think the men are with the restaurant and want to talk to them about taking someone else's reservation. But it appears the couple whose reservation they took crossed someone and the two men work for this person...

Preps: hm, none whatsoever. I just have it on the disk and has been waiting for rainy days like this one. Me, being very feverish and in a terrible cold. Wow, I see Mark Wahlberg. Haven't seen this stud in a while. My curiosity increases.



Reality: Boy, this one is so predictable, yet entertaining up to a point. Now imagine being an old couple (not old in years, but old in the time spent together), bored to death and forcing yourself to go on a date. Yuk. Would never want to be in their shoes. Or skin, for that matter. And yes, you close the door to your bedroom and don't let your flesh and bones menaces to just walk in at five in the morning.

Apart from that, the red line seems adequate. A bit of wine makes everything sparkling, I guess. A bit of boldness in the relationship should spice it up a bit. The unusual adventure is a bit underestimating to the viewer, but for the mid of the night entertainment I must confess that there are several points in the piece that entertain me more than just the average piece. Yes, they again claim cops are pretty stupid. And yes, the movie implies that couple logic can be totally illogical. And implies old romances to just last and last. A lot of trivial information and hardly believable, are exposed in this piece. And a lot of "fortunate" events that cannot be real. However, the mission of this piece isn't really in reality of the stage and reality of the events happening.

In my opinion the movie on one hand implies that making a relationship work, means constant work from both sides and also points out where the point of no return should be (or how to recognize you are diving into this status). Point of no return would mean being fed up with the relationship and making it happen for the sake of relationship and not because you are comfortable within it. So not living the life, but being a mere observer.

In this sense, the movie makes me think about relationships. Whatever happens at the end, I am not really interested. And it doesn't bother me if I never know. I just know I don't want to be in the shoes of that couple - before their comedy starts.

Oh, yes, Wahlberg. A pure decoration in this movie. Nothing more, unfortunately.


My personal rating: 5,0 (can make you think. Apart from that, nothing special.. And Mark has even more muscles and looks as I remember).

Preps: None whatsoever. I am not familiar with the story neither the cast


Reality: I have seen a lot of positive critics about this and I was generally surprised about the cast and the first few punch lines. Nevertheless, the movie is a big dissappointment. It cannot fit even in my most depressive era, when I wasn't so picky in the comedy genre. I find this movie filled with not funny scenes and bad acting. I think that actors such as Wahlberg, Jackson, could have picked something more intelligent for their act and that the movie insults all the viewers as a whole. I didn't like it in the first five minutes and I thought the jokes were not only lame, but also really disrespectful to the audience (in sense, they were stupid and worthless (of the time spent to see them)).

I stopped watching the movie after half an hour. Not worth my time, not worth your time. Even if the clouds are pouring with rain outside and you really don't have anything else to do. Don't watch it. In my opinion, stupid enough that I stopped after half an hour and erased it. Forever.

Lovely bones in short: Centers on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family - and her killer - from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.


Stage: home theatre/hotel room on a business trip after a long day on exhibition

Preps: I adore and admire work of Peter Jackson. As he did a beautiful movie scenery for the LOTR, I expected the scenery and the photography to simply be beautiful and breath taking. As for the story, I was familiar with the trailer I saw at the movies and it reminded me of a CSI story mixed with a fairy tale. Good enough to watch. And also the cast got my attention.


Reality: As I predicted, the scenery and photography was amazing. Astounding, what photo shop brought us, unimaginative world before turns into reality. Jackson has put a lot of dream world and fantasies we all had as children into this movie.

The main story revolves around the murder. The spectator is carefully lead through the crime and follows the murderer and the murdered child each step. The focus is set on the things or better put action that happens after the murder; break in the family, drama and sadness of both, murdered Susie and her family. Carefully planned, the neighbour takes advantage of her naive and curious nature and brutally murders her.


The movie is a thoughtful reminder of the afterlife and one way we could picture it. It can comfort the ones that believe that all good souls go to a good place after the earth life. And a skeptical place for the philosophers that don't buy this. Both will however enjoy the picturesque image of the life inbetween.


My personal rate: 8,0 (I enjoyed it and it relaxed me - maybe more a chick movie afterall).
